How to lose weight in 10 ways

We all struggle with our weight from time to time, so I took it upon myself to check out 10 diets and type a short summary for each. You be the judge as to which diet will work best for you.

1. Weight Watchers www.WeightWatchers.com (no foods are prohibited, WW works on an old fashioned point system and a healthy way of eating) I witnessed a lot of success stories on WW.

2. The Atkins Dietwww.atkins.com (is a low carbohydrate diet focusing mainly on cutting out the carbs) this is pure torture for a carb junky, there has to be an easier way.

3. Special K dietwww.specialk.com (eating a bowl of Special K daily will make you lose weight) Using the special K challenge, this would be a challenge for me and boring, eating the same thing everyday.

4. The Grapefruit Dietwww.webmd.com (burning 10 pounds in 10 days) Sounds dangerous, and painful for the stomach can you say “acid reflux”

5. South Beach Dietwww.SouthBeachDiet.com (SB and Atkins are very similar, low carb with a long term life change plan) Carb Junkie Torture!

6. Oprah’s Green Tea Dietwww.Oprah-Green-Tea-Diet.com, this diet claims that the green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both.” Can you say Thermogenesis???? Can you also say I have a chef that prepares my meals on a daily basis. (Well Oprah sorry we are all not that privileged).

7. Jenny Craig Dietwww.JennyCraig.com (3 level food mind and body plan/smaller portions and lifestyle change) This sounds like a real diet, change lifestyle and ways of eating because lets face it once the weight is off you are going to need and want to maintain your weight loss.

8. Nutri System Dietwww.NutriSystem.com (works on prepared microwave meals/set calorie system) sounds lazy and hard to maintain after you reach your weight loss goal.

9. The Hollywood Dietwww.HollywoodDiet.com The Hollywood 24 and 48 Hour Miracle Diet is a unique scientifically formulated blend of 100% all natural juices, designed to cleanse, detoxify and rejuvenate your body, while losing unnecessary weight. They are formulated from a special blend of fruits, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential oils and other cleansing ingredients. (Source: HollywoodDiet.com) Again, fad diets rarely last, unless you plan on doing this permanently.

10. The biggest loser diet…This is a low-calorie diet based on the Biggest Loser pyramid of 4-3-2-1 (four servings of fruits and veggies; three of lean protein; two of whole grains; and one “extra”), along with good old-fashioned exercise

For me, I never personally tried any of these diets but I have a friend who struggles with her weight and has tried just about every diet on this page. Again, any diet will work temporarily work if you try it. But once most people meet their goal, they do not know how to maintain their weight loss and end up gaining it all back if not more. That becomes very discouraging which is understandable.

If you are just looking to loose a few pounds, what always worked for me was to drink plenty of water a day, eat 3 healthy meals a day (and try cutting your portions a little) cut out the beverages, ice tea, soda, coffee, drink 1 a day as opposed to 3 or 4, do 30 minutes of exercise, you will be surprised, most important.. Do not eat after 7 pm.

In closing I’d like to add that any major weight loss anything 50 pounds or over involves a major life change, therefore it would be more logical to stick with a healthy, well balanced diet of exercise, vitamins, and a well balanced diet. Try to stay away from fad diets and follow a healthy regimen any medical professional will tell you that you can never go wrong.
