- Book your flight If possible try to fly with a friend for the first time, someone that will support you and is aware of your fears someone you trust. www.expedia.com
- Start planning give yourself something to look forward to plan things to do when you arrive at your destination. This will take your mind off of your fear. Go online and look up the resort where you will be staying, look at the pictures of the resort and get a good visual. Remember this will be your reward after you conquer your fear. Print out a picture of your destination and hang it on your refrigerator.
- Go Shopping, splurge a little and get prepared for your trip
- Make a doctor appointment, talk to your doctor about giving you something to calm you down for initial take off.
- Pack, gum (for your ears), an IPOD with your favorite music (relaxing music or even inspirational music), magazines, books, and a favorite blanket or something from home that you feel comfortable with. Place a picture of your children, or loved one somewhere that you can look at this will also help during your flight.
- Take your medicine, about an hour before flight take off, take your medicine, sit and relax and wait for your flight to be announced, stay calm and get on the plane. Up, Up and away. Happy flying.
